Dead & Company fan falls to his death at Citi Field concert

The Dead & Company show at Citi Field turned tragic Friday night when a man fell to his death while trying to do a flip on a balcony, police and witnesses said.

The fan, who was in his 40s, plunged some 30 to 50 feet during intermission at around 9 p.m., and landed on concrete, cops said. He was taken to NewYork–Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“I heard people going ‘ahhh’ and see people running. I said ‘bro, someone took a f—ing header,” a fan in a tie-dye tank top told The Post.

A driver working outside the stadium said he saw the man “flip” before he fell and slammed into the ground.

“He was unresponsive and he hit the ground head first. There was no way he survived,” said the driver, who only gave his first name, Dan. “He was way too drunk. You could smell it.”

“His brother came downstairs and found out he jumped,” Dan added. “His brother was with him. He was crying.”

Police sources said the man was possibly under the influence when he took the fatal fall from the fifth floor.

“The people are inebriated, the people are intoxicated,” a security guard, who declined to give his name, told The Post.

Cops had taped off an area next to the right field entrance.

“We saw someone fall from this ledge,” said concertgoer Sean Egan, 27, a Queens resident who was one level up. “We see something fall and we heard him hit the ground.”

“It’s terrible,” Egan said. “I wish I didn’t see it happen … It kinda killed the mood.”

The Grateful Dead offshoot, which features members of the legendary rock band and John Mayer, kicked off a 31-date tour earlier this week.
