Meghan McCain ‘furious’ with Joe Biden over handling of Afghanistan
Meghan McCain blasted President Joe Biden on Thursday — saying she’s “furious” about the situation in Afghanistan and calling him “Jimmy Carter on acid.”
“No press briefings from the Biden White House from the President or his staff. They’re all on vacation. He is like Jimmy Carter on acid and he and his team will be remembered in history worse than him,” McCain raged in a tweet Thursday morning.
After comparing the current president to a former Democratic commander-in-chief on a hallucinogenic drug, McCain said she was “physically ill” due to the disturbing fallout from the president’s chaotic withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.
“I have been physically ill, more depressed than I have been since the beginning stages of the pandemic and filled nothing short of pure rage and anger since the calamity of a ‘pull out,’ which will be seen as one of the greatest foreign policy catastrophes of my lifetime,” McCain, daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, said in a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday.
“I am furious our president was so incompetent not to see what every expert on the planet could have seen coming,” she added. “Our veterans deserve better, the innocent Afghan people and our allies and translators who have stood by us for the past 20 years deserve better.”
McCain — whose father ran unsuccessfully for president, served in the military and on the Senate’s Armed Services Committee — in her tirade claimed that the “embarrassment” and “shame” that Biden’s decision has caused for America “will take generations to undo,” and that the country’s standing in on the world stage will decline as a result of it.
