COVID-19 has knocked American soccer star Christian Pulisic from Chelsea’s Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday.
Pulisic tested positive for the virus on Wednesday and will now have to be quarantined for 10 days, almost certainly costing Pulisic the Aug. 28 against Liverpool as well.
“Christian [Pulisic] is unfortunately pretty easy to explain: He had a positive test and needs to follow the protocols,” Chelsea coach Thomas Tuechel said. “He’s not in training and not available for the game [against Arsenal].”
The talented midfielder may not play for Chelsea for a while, due to his U.S. national team duties. The USMNT will have three World Cup qualifying matches the first week of September, with training camp beginning Aug. 29.
