Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel announced Sunday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The 46-year-old Vrabel said at the start of training camp that the entire Titans coaching staff had been vaccinated, but he told reporters via Zoom that he got tested Sunday after waking up with a sore throat.
Vrabel notably spent time in recent days with former Patriots teammate Tom Brady during joint practices between the Titans and the Buccaneers. He posted a photo of himself, Brady and Brady’s son Jack, who is serving as a ball boy for the Bucs this summer.
“Jack Brady talking with his favorite former Patriot. Also pictured, Tom Brady,” Vrabel jokingly tweeted Wednesday
Vrabel said he will be quarantining in accordance with NFL health and safety protocols. He will require two negative tests within a 48-hour period to be able to return, or else he will have to remain in isolation for 10 days.
Vrabel, who will be allowed to participate in team meetings via Zoom, didn’t believe anyone else in the Titans’ facility has tested positive, although contact tracing and further testing is ongoing.
