The Yankees have not lost a game in a major league ballpark in nearly two weeks. They are winners of nine straight, their last loss coming in the cornfields of Iowa. This turnaround has been out of a movie. Andrew Velazquez is ready for his own movie, a remake of “A Bronx Tale.”
The Bronx native hit his first big-league homer Saturday at Yankee Stadium. The script writes itself.
To talk Velazquez, the Yankees win streak and the two games ahead against the surging Braves, we bring you a new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Yankees legend Jeff Nelson, featuring an interview with YES Network’s Bob Lorenz.
Pinstripe Pod Opening Segment with Chris, Jeff & Jake:
- VELAZQUEZ: Such a great story and seeing his family crying in the crowd Saturday. He has earned his spot on this team and should be on the September roster. Things will get interesting when Gio Urshela and Gleyber Torres come back. How many at bats will Tyler Wade and Rougned Odor get?
- ANALYTICS: Nellie is worried down the stretch and in the playoffs that the Yankees will use the computer to script games as they have done in the past.

- STANTON: Giancarlo Stanton playing the outfield has been huge for this team. Gives them more flexibility to get Luke Voit and others in lineup.
- ROTATION: What will the rotation look like down the stretch? Could Luis Gil end up moving to the bullpen?
