Video shows gunfight in Bronx with off-duty cops
Shocking new video shows a 24-year-old man pumping two rounds into the sky before he’s fatally shot by an off-duty cop in the Bronx — as his dad returns fire at the officers.
Surveillance footage obtained by The Post Monday captured the dramatic shooting around 4:15 a.m. Sunday on Valentine Avenue and East 180th Street.
Two officers had just gotten off duty at the 46th Precinct when they encountered Michael Rosado, who fired “several shots” at the officers, cops said.
The video shows Rosado get out of a parked van and fire rounds into the air before moving out of the frame.
Rosado can then be seen running away from the officers after appearing to drop the pistol behind the van’s rear driver’s side tire, throwing his hands up and collapsing to the sidewalk from an apparent gunshot wound to the stomach.
At the same time, Michael Rosado’s 44-year-old father, Rafael Rosado, is seen picking up the pistol and returning fire at the officers. The officers were not struck, police said.
Michael Rosado crawls over to another parked van and four unknown people try to tend to his wounds, according to the video.
As cops arrive, the group picks up Michael Rosado while his father flees after appearing to pass off the firearm, video shows.
The gun was not recovered.
Michael Rosado was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died.
The more than three-minute video does not capture Michael Rosado shooting at the off-duty cops.
The elder Rosado was charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
