Aaron Rodgers says infamous Packers president phone call ‘never f–king happened’

We have a good old-fashioned he-said-no-he-didn’t situation between Aaron Rodgers and a sportswriter.

In a 2019 story, Ty Dunne, now a writer with his own “Go Long” newsletter and at the time a reporter for Bleacher Report, wrote a lengthy dissertation on where it all went south with Mike McCarthy in Green Bay. In the piece, he included a nugget that Packers president Mark Murphy called Rodgers and told him “Don’t be the problem” when the franchise hired Matt LaFleur as new head coach.

Rodgers, who is a Hall of Fame grudge holder, denies that ever happened.

Appearing on his weekly Tuesday afternoon spot on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers addressed the conversation with Murphy. “That never f–king happened,” Rodgers said. “That alleged conversation never happened. … That’s a total lie.”

Reached by The Post for comment, Dunne categorically denies Rodgers’ denial.

“I wasn’t surprised by the comment at all,” Dunne said in a text message. “It’s par for the course. He said the same thing three years ago. I obviously stand 100 percent by my dozens of sources and the story in its entirety.”
