There is a new positive energy in the air when it comes to the Jets.
They have turned the page on last season and really the last decade of ineptitude. It’s now on to a new year, a new quarterback, a new head coach and new belief. The Jets are unlikely to make the playoffs in 2021, but the hope is that they are competitive and that Zach Wilson and company pass the eye test. Everyone wants to see new head coach Robert Saleh clapping for the right reasons every week.
To preview the 2021 Jets season and make predictions, we bring you a new episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast with me and Brian Costello, featuring a chat with Jets radio voice Bob Wischusen.
Gang’s All Here Podcast with Jake & Coz:
- SEASON PREVIEW: Will the Jets cornerback situation doom the defense? They are relying a lot on young CBs to cover receivers. Their run defense and pass rush should be decent. They also have a lot of young linebackers. Zach Wilson was impressive in training camp and preseason. Jets fans should be excited. He’s got plenty of targets and variety in the backfield. Will the offense carry the Jets?
- PREDICTIONS: I say a 23-20 Week 1 win over the Panthers. Coz says the Jets lose by 10. I say the Jets go 6-11. Coz says the Jets go 5-12. We also give out our picks for the Super Bowl.

- GROWING PAINS: Joe Douglas could not address everything. Their will be growing pains in the secondary. He did the right thing and used draft picks on the offense. The new NFL is a lot more focused on explosive offenses.
- ZACH WILSON/ROBERT SALEH: Excitement in the air around a new QB and the new coach. There are positive vibes in the air, but there will be growing pains with the coaching staff, as well. Saleh will be the visible face on both sides of the ball and not just the defense.
- JUST COMPETE, BABY: This season is about growth and the eye test. They need to be in games late. Their win total is not a big deal. They need to go out there and score points and keep games close.
