Orioles announcer pays respect to Michael K. Williams after homer

The city of Baltimore is mourning actor Michael K. Williams, following news of his death earlier this week.

A two-run home run by Orioles outfielder Austin Hays sparked a special tribute to the late star during Tuesday’s win against the Royals.

“You come at the king, you best not miss,” Orioles play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown said on the broadcast after Hays’ grand slam, which marked a 14-game hit streak for the slugger.

The quote was made famous by Williams’ “The Wire” character, Omar Little — a notorious stick-up man. The HBO hit series, which focuses on the narcotics scene in Baltimore, holds significant meaning for Orioles fans and beyond. Little used the line while in the midsts of a feud with the Barksdales.

Hays’ 16th home run of the season helped the Orioles secure a 7-4 win over Kansas City— making the Tuesday victory Baltimore’s third in its last four games.

The Orioles continue their series against Kansas City today at home, followed by matchups on Thursday and Friday.

The Post was first to report Williams’ death earlier this week in New York City. He was 54.

On Monday afternoon, the Emmy-nominated actor was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose in his Brooklyn penthouse, law enforcement sources told The Post. Cops are investigating the incident.

“No foul play indicated,’’ a police source said. “No forced entry, the apartment was in order.’’

Williams, who had been open about his past struggles with drugs, was pronounced dead by authorities at 2:12 p.m., sources said. His longtime rep, Marianna Shafran of Shafran PR, confirmed the actor’s death in a statement.
