Porn addiction app claims it has men quitting in 90 days

This self-help app is claiming to offer people a way to beat their porn dependency.

Jack Jenkins, 31, decided to develop Remojo, which bills itself as “the world’s only complete program for blocking and quitting porn, for good.”

Jenkins soft-launched the app in September after investors put more than $1.2 million toward its creation, and as of July, the $4-per-month support app has over 100,000 downloads.

Over 90% of those customers are male, Jenkins estimated, but while they’re rather uniform in gender, they come from a wide array of nations, including the UK, the US, Brazil and India, he told the Guardian.

Users get access to a mix of technology that blocks pornography — not just sites but also pornographic content on social media and beyond — across customers’ devices. The app also offers an array of content, from podcast interviews to guided meditations and access to an anonymous online community. Should users relapse, “accountability partners” made through the app can be automatically alerted to intervene.

While Jenkins is not targeting children with Remojo, its creation brings up an important point regarding kids and the internet. Since porn has become so easily accessible online, it is a futile argument that children should simply be expected to avoid it. “Kids can’t be held responsible for interacting with this content. It’s disgraceful that we accept the situation as it is,” he said.
