Whatever it takes?
A few months ago, former UFC champion Jessica Andrade joined OnlyFans — an internet content subscription service — where she shared “four or five” nude photos, along with other lifestyle content, to make extra money after moving to Las Vegas.
And although the racy photos have since leaked, Andrade has no regrets because she’s been able to pay her rent in Vegas, pay off her car and home in her native Brazil, as well as start the renovation process on her mother’s home.
“I paid off my car and six or seven months of rent [in Las Vegas] in advance,” Andrade told MMA Fighting. “I haven’t even used the money of my last fight’s purse. I was able to pay my bills in Brazil, help my family and help [my wife] Fernanda’s family with OnlyFans’ money.”
Andrade said it was the advice of her wife, Fernanda Gomes, that convinced her to join the popular content site. Last month, OnlyFans confirmed in a statement to Bloomberg that it will ban explicit content starting in October.
“It’s nice when you check your account and see the money is still there. You’re like, ‘My God, I’m buying a lot of stuff on Amazon, my house is like a market right now, and the account remains the same…,'” Andrade said. “Even though the photos have leaked, it was only four or five photos.”
The Brazilian MMA star went on to explain why she “wasn’t upset” when her sultry photos leaked.
“I wasn’t upset because I already imagined it could happen. I’ve seen that happen to other fighters as well. … I wasn’t upset because I did all this knowing that it would leak eventually,” she said.
“If I had done [those photos] against my will, it would’ve been different. But I did that knowing it would probably happen. Not everyone is honest with you all the time. The photos were a package to one person but you don’t know this person’s heart and nature, and unfortunately that happened. But it was a learning experience. So we do photos now, but only to the right people and the right way.”
Andrade continued, “I’m 30 and my body won’t look pretty for the rest of my life, so we have to enjoy it while it’s nice. No one will want to see it later. [Laughs.] Better use it now, than when it’s gone. But I wasn’t upset. I thought it was funny because people did a lot of memes.”
Ultimately, Andrade said she’s “very happy with OnlyFans,” but hasn’t posted content recently, due to her training.
Andrade is currently in camp preparing for her flyweight fight against Cynthia Calvillo on Sept. 25 — the same day she will celebrate her 30th birthday. Andrade is currently the No. 1 contender in the division with the flyweight title being held by Valentina Shevchenko.
