The Mets have been eliminated from the postseason race, but they are looking to end the 2021 season on a high note and play spoiler on Sunday when they face the Brewers on the road.
Milwaukee looks to Freddy Peralta to return to the form he had prior to landing on the injured list. The team is 1-3 in his four starts in September after he spent the final two weeks of August on the IL. Peralta has allowed three runs in three of four starts after surrendering two runs or fewer in 14 of his previous 16.
Peralta has given up three home runs in 17 ¹/₃ innings with opponents hitting .235 off him in September after opponents hit .145 with six home runs in 89 ¹/₃ innings in his previous 16 starts.
The Mets oppose Peralta with Carlos Carrasco, who has pitched just 14 ¹/₃ innings across three starts on the road this season and opponents are hitting .279 off him away from New York. In his 44 ²/₃ innings overall, he has allowed nine home runs with a 5.24 ERA.
The Mets’ bullpen ranked 21st in ERA the past 30 days and the Brewers bullpen allowed 1.2 home runs per nine innings in that span, so lots of runs will be brewed in Milwaukee on Sunday.
