FBI returns to Brian Laundrie’s home in Gabby Petito case
NORTH PORT, Fla. — The FBI was back at the Florida home of Brian Laundrie’s parents Sunday, as the massive manhunt for the missing 23-year-old continues in the death of Gabby Petito.
Two FBI agents arrived at the North Port home shortly before 1 p.m. to gather Laundrie’s personal belongings for DNA testing, the family’s lawyer confirmed to The Post.
“The FBI requested some personal items belonging to Brian Laundrie to assist them with DNA matching,” attorney Steven Bertolino said. “Brian’s parents provided the FBI with what they could.”
Bertolino called the visit “routine.”
The FBI field office in Denver, which is heading up the case, refused to elaborate on what was turned over.
The FBI raided the home earlier this month and left with several items after questioning Laundrie’s parents, Christopher and Roberta.
The new visit by the feds came as hundreds of mourners on Long Island packed a memorial service for Petito — one week after her remains were found at an isolated Wyoming campground where the young couple had stopped during their cross-country trek.
Last week, a Wyoming coroner ruled her death a homicide.
“The entire planet knows this woman’s name,” her father, Joe Petito, said during the service at Moloney’s Funeral Home in Holbrook. “And she’s inspired a lot of women and a lot of men to do what’s best for them first.”
He added, “If there’s a relationship that might not be the best for you, leave it now.”
Petito, 22, last spoke to her mother on Aug. 25, and she was reported missing by her mom to Suffolk County cops on Sept. 11.
Growing tension between the young couple was depicted by eyewitnesses and cops in Moab, Utah, who pulled them over on Aug. 12 on reports of a “domestic” incident.
Laundrie returned home to North Port without Petito on Sept. 1, and has since disappeared, prompting a search of the nearby 25,000-acre Carlton Reserve, where he is believed to have last been.
Last week, Laundrie was indicted on federal fraud charges for allegedly using Petito’s debit card in Wyoming in the days after she vanished.
A reward for his capture had risen to $30,000 as of Sunday.
