Giants owner John Mara seemingly knocks over trash cans in frustration

The field goal sailed through the uprights, a simultaneous loud bang was heard in the press box and Giants co-owner John Mara walked away from the scene of two knocked-over trash cans near where he watched Sunday’s loss to the Falcons.

Mara was surrounded by a handful of other team VIPs who could have been responsible, but detectives looking for circumstantial evidence need only to look at social media for the viral GIF of Mara throwing a chair in the past to connect the dots.

Asked by The Post to comment on what he just witnessed, Mara respectfully said “No” without breaking stride or looking up from his shoes as he walked away from the clubs at the bottom of MetLife Stadium about 30 minutes after the final play.

Mara was booed when he spoke during the halftime ceremony to retire Eli Manning’s jersey numbers and induct the former quarterback into the Ring of Honor. When he returned to the press box, Mara told a small group of reporters, “I would boo, too. We’re 0-2 and down at half.”

The Giants trailed 7-6 at the half, took a 14-7 lead and allowed 10 unanswered fourth-quarter points, losing on a last-play field goal for the second straight week. They are now 0-3 after starting 0-5 last season. They have started five straight seasons with at least two straight losses.

The fans booed the players throughout the game, but the chance for them to see Mara is rare.

“I don’t think that’s fair to Mr. Mara,” running back Saquon Barkley said. “He’s done a great job.”
