Wild video shows stool-wielding hero chase off NYC jewel thieves
A pair of would-be jewel thieves had to run for their lives Sunday after a good Samaritan came out of nowhere and chased them out of a Bronx store armed with a stool.
The fleeing suspects were nabbed by cops outside the East Fordham Road store around 1:30 p.m. and taken into custody — and are now awaiting charges, police sources said.
The footage shows the two men browsing the jewelry case when one of them jumps behind the counter and slugs the clerk, who falls to the ground while the crook grabs the goods.
His accomplice is seen in the background guarding the door holding a plastic bag.
That’s when an unidentified hero comes to the rescue, lunging at the thief with a stool overhead and smashing the creep in the head as he frantically runs for the door.
That’s where cops were waiting and slapped the cuffs on the pair, the sources said.
The sources said at least one of the suspects was believed to be armed.
It was not known who the stool-wielding hero is, or whether it is an employee or simply a vigilante customer who was having none of it.
