Yankees-Red Sox game delayed after fire alarm goes off at Fenway Park
BOSTON — The Yankees-Red Sox game was delayed for four minutes in the top of the fourth inning when a fire alarm went off, causing flashing lights to go off around Fenway Park on Sunday.
Home plate umpire Joe West stopped play with Giancarlo Stanton at the plate before the alarm was silenced several minutes later.
It wasn’t immediately clear what set off the alarm.
Once the alarm stopped, the crowd at Fenway applauded and Stanton hit Eduardo Rodriguez’s next pitch up the middle and off second base for a single.
The game was scoreless and there were two outs at the time of the delay.
