Josh Gordon picks Chiefs as he attempts yet another NFL comeback

Josh Gordon has made his choice of teams as he attempts another return to the NFL. It looks like a good one.

The former Pro Bowl receiver plans to sign with the Chiefs once he is reinstated into the league following multiple violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Gordon was suspended in December 2020 after he violated the terms of his previous reinstatement. He was with the Seahawks at the time, though he did not play in 2020. The 30-year-old applied for reinstatement in July 2021, and was cleared to re-enter the league on Sept. 24.

The receiver will now catch passes from Patrick Mahomes as Kansas City attempts to return to the Super Bowl for the third straight year. He will likely replace fill the Chiefs’ receiver hole left by Sammy Watkins, who joined the Ravens in the offseason.

It is another chance for the troubled receiver, who has been suspended from the league numerous times over the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Browns, making the Pro Bowl in 2013 and leading the league in receiving yards that season, but missed much of 2014 and all of the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to suspension.

He was traded to the Patriots in 2018, where he was given his first indefinite suspension and later waived due to injury after he was reinstated. The Seahawks claimed Gordon and he played in five games with the team in 2019 before he was suspended once again.
