A cauldron will bubble over again on Broadway.
William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” is returning to New York City theater with “No Time to Die” star Daniel Craig in the lead and Oscar nominee Ruth Negga (“Loving”) as his cunning and treacherous wife, Lady Macbeth.
“Macbeth” will begin its run on March 29, 2022, at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre, with opening night set for April 28.
The 15-week production will be directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold (“Fun Home”).
“Daniel is not only a great film actor but a magnificent theater actor as well,” producer Barbara Broccoli said of Craig, 53, adding that “exquisitely talented” Negga, 39, will be making her Broadway debut. Broccoli has also produced numerous film installments of the mega-hit James Bond franchise, including Craig’s latest.
“I am beyond thrilled to be participating in this historic season as theater re-emerges, and to be working with two such masterful actors on one of dramatic literature’s most challenging and epic dramas,” said director Gold in his own statement.
Craig last hit Broadway in 2013’s “Betrayal,” and “Preacher” star Negga appeared in an off-Broadway production of “Hamlet” at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn early last year.
“Knives Out” star Craig also previously appeared in an off-Broadway production of Shakespeare’s groundbreaking work “Othello” — alongside fellow British actor David Oyelowo — in 2016.
Tickets for “Macbeth” go on sale on Friday, Oct. 8.
