As Libra season comes to a close — with its cheap charm, faux fur, Live Laugh Love nonsense and magnanimous peacekeeping — the night sky will be aglow with a full moon Wednesday in the opposite sign of Aries.
A cardinal fire sign, Aries is the first in the zodiac and it intends to stay in the lead at all costs — cue DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win.”
Full moons have a habit of intensifying emotions and illuminating that which has been hidden and is in dire need of addressing. The sign that any given moon falls in lends its energy to the lunar cycle. In this case, we have war-lording, boat-burning, matches-for-fingers Aries at the lunar helm. Aries favors contact sports, the color of blood and impulse over reason.
For better or worse, the ram doesn’t hesitate and, in doing so, it tends to get what it wants. Case in point: apex Aries Lil Nas X, who was ordained for boundary-breaking, booty-shaking, give-the-devil-a-lap dance glory.
There is much to glean from the assertive energy of Aries, but we must balance that assertion with consideration — not only for our actions, but also for those they affect. Because this full moon is squaring off with death daddy planet Pluto — the celestial body powered by sex, taboos and regeneration through ruin — we may feel called to destructive or downright villainous behavior.
Lean away from taking those actions, but shine a healthy light on their respective root systems and allow them a creative place to bloom. Take inspiration from artist and fellow Aries Francisco Goya, who channeled his darker impulses into marvelous, macabre paintings.
For further consideration, I bring you double-Aries (sun and moon) Marlon Brando. The dude was unapologetic in his appetites and his approach to them. I’m not recommending that everyone make like Marlon and get a broken nose for street cred and/or adopt a pet raccoon to keep them company in the bathtub. But I do endorse tapping into some of his primal abandon while under the influence of this moon.
Get weird, get what you want — but don’t burn yourself out riding the moonbeams of this infernal lunation.
Read on to discover how the full moon will affect your sign.
Aries
Holy hellfire — it’s your time to shine, ram. Think back to the Aries new moon last April. Who were you then and who are you becoming? The time is nigh to adapt to your most recent incarnation by adopting behavior patterns that push you forward, rather than hold you to your past.
Taurus
The full moon falls in your 12th house of spirituality and the unconscious mind. You rarely require a reason to stay at home alone in your underwear, but consider this lunation an invitation to do just that. Rest, reflect and allow your intuition to be nourished in — and by — isolation.
Gemini
This full moon illuminates your 11th house of friends and collaborations. If ever there was a time to align with or revisit a group project, it is now. Your strength will be doubled and power magnified by joining forces with a worthy cohort.
Cancer
This full moon activates your 10th house of career achievements and social status. Do not hesitate to shoot your shot and ask for what you deserve during this time, moon child. This Aries lunation gives you the clarity to recognize — and seek remuneration for — your own worth.
Leo
Luck be a Leo! This moon lights up your ninth house of expansion with gambles that pay off. If you’re weighing the risk vs. reward of a particular person or situation, the active lunar energy of Aries encourages you to roll the dice and play fast and loose with love.
Virgo
With the moon moving through your eighth house of sex, death, secrets and other people’s money, the focus is on debts and orgasms. Settle the former and seek the latter with equal vigor.
Libra
Now as ever, Libra, the focus for you is on relationships. How much are you holding back in order to hold onto the people in your life? This full moon in your opposite sign is a call to clearly and courageously declare who you are and what you need.
Scorpio
As we teeter on the cusp of your solar return, Scorpio, the theme for you is finding pleasure in the rituals of self-care and daily maintenance. The moon in your sixth house of habits reminds you that you can’t go hard if you’re not first soft with yourself.
Sagittarius
Let your bare-chested, finger-painting, Capri Sun-chugging inner child out to play, archer. The moon in your fifth house of art and pleasure wants you to return to a time when you were able to create without judgment and move toward joy without hesitation.
Capricorn
The moon in your fourth house of home and ancestry calls you to take a hard look at the place that you come from. What do you want to carry and what do you want to purge, both tangible and psychic, from that environment? Aries empowers you to choose the right things to cherish.
Aquarius
Cue the chaos, water-bearer. This fiery moon is easily oxygenated by your airiness. Your thoughts may spin and your tongue slip in the wake of feeding that fire. Remember that you have no obligation to engage with every person or opportunity that comes your way. Learn to discern.
Pisces
In the immortal words of Yo Gotti, “Rake it up,” Pisces. The moon in your second house of security and possessions encourages you to set financial goals and actively visualize yourself meeting them. Look rich and dream big.
