Authorities busted a Long Island woman for allegedly neglecting her female Maltese, which was found caked in muck and suffering from painful dental ailments.
Suffolk County SPCA detectives arrested Marylyn Richards of West Babylon on Friday after an investigation revealed the canine’s owner had not taken care of her dog, Minni, according to Roy Gross, the organization’s chief.
“The dog was extremely matted and covered with feces, urine, dirt and debris throughout her fur,” Gross said in a press release.
“The severe matting and untreated medical issues caused the dog substantial pain, impaired vision and restriction of movement. The dog also had severe dental disease including infections and abscesses in its mouth.”
Richards, 58, was charged with a misdemeanor, according to Gross.
Minni’s owner is slated to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on Nov. 10, according to the release.
