Giants’ Dexter Lawrence has big plans for Dexxywear apparel line

Dave Gettleman likes to borrow the old Tom Coughlin line “Big men allow you to compete.”

Turns out big men allow you to dress.

“Honestly in high school,” Sexy Dexy, aka Dexter Lawrence, told The Post, “I could never fit in many clothes, and I always used to say to like my mom or somebody that, ‘I need to just make my own stuff.’ ”

He believed as early as high school that clothes make the man. But he was no fashionista.

“I just had to get what I could,” Sexy Dexy said.

He looked everywhere.

“Everywhere, Big and Tall. If Macy’s had a big-and-tall [section] I was in there, the Burlington Coat Factory, stuff like that,” Sexy Dexy said.

So now, the man makes the clothes.

“It’d be frustrating going to the mall, trying to find clothes, and then college [Clemson], it kinda got worse, I got frustrated going to the mall, I still couldn’t fit stuff, so I kinda always had that idea in my head that I wanted to do it. And this past year I acted on it a little bit.”

And so Dexxy Wear (@dexxywear) was launched within the past week, targeted to … well, let the website tell it:

“We have big&tall and everything in between !! We’re here for you!”

“I’m gonna wear everything I put out,” Sexy Dexy said. “That’s kinda my mindset behind it.”

Sexy Dexy was big when he was little. When Gettleman drafted him in the first round in 2019, Gettleman smiled broadly during a post-draft photo op and said: “I got me a Hog Mollie.” This one goes 6-foot-4, 340 pounds with a 42- or 44-inch waist.

“I’m kinda 3X, but everything fits different,” Sexy Dexy said.

Asked to describe his fashion style, Sexy Dexy said: “Kinda like a nice chill vibe, relaxed vibe. But also like casual at the same time. Whatever I wear I can wear throughout the whole day, going to dinner or going [out]. … So it’s like casual but fun, but comfortable, that type of style.”

You name it, he’ll have it.

“I got sweatshirts T-shirts, hats, shirts, sweatpants. It’s gonna grow into more,” Sexy Dexy said.

A team player in every way, expect to spot your favorite Giants in dexxywear.

“I’m gonna try to bring some in for everybody to wear,” Sexy Dexy said.

I asked Sexy Dexy whether Gettleman — who certainly can be included in Big and Tall and everything in between — would look good In dexxywear.

“Yeah he can get some too. … He’s OG Sexy,” Sexy Dexy said, and laughed.

I asked him who on the team he might hire as a good dexxywear model.

“On my team? Me!” Sexy Dexy said, and laughed.

Other than you?

“Kinda like a guy in each group,” he said. “Small group, medium group, big group. A guy from each one of those.”

Giants safety Xavier McKinney — 6-foot, 201 — would likely fit in the medium group.

“I saw something on IG that he posted,” McKinney told The Post. “I haven’t really looked at it much, but I’m gonna talk to him about it actually and see if I can get some apparel.”

Practice-squad tackle Isaiah Wilson — 6-7, 330-plus — would fit in the large group. Or 3X large. “He’s massive,” Sexy Dexy said. “I gotta put him on to it. I don’t think he knows about it yet.”

Sexy Dexy plans on expanding dexxywear into malls.

“We’ve been talking about that a little bit. We’re still working on that,” he said.

He’s also been working on his sack dance. His 1.5 sacks have come in the last two weeks.

“I call that the Big Sexy,” he said. “I’m having fun out there. Just to bring some excitement, you know, get the whole sideline doing it with me, just to bring some laughter to the game. We’re still out here doing what we’ve been doing since kids.”

He has always believed he is more than a run-stuffer on the defensive line. Sacks come in bunches.

“I just feel like I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing since the beginning of the year,” Sexy Dexy said. “They’re just falling to me now.”

On Monday night, the Giants clothes horse will be galloping after Patrick Mahomes.

“That’s gonna be fun,” Sexy Dexy said. “Gonna try to keep him in the pocket.”

He has taken ownership of his offsides penalty that led to the successful overtime field goal that beat the Giants against the Washington Football Team.

“Just players [mess] up sometimes,” Sexy Dexy said. “Just had to be more locked-in in the moment. I don’t hold anything like that over my head. I know that I can’t let it happen again. I don’t want to let anybody down.”

The Giants forged their identity Sunday against Sam Darnold and the Panthers.

“Just to be nasty,” Sexy Dexy said. “Play fast, play hard, communicate with everything. Giving that attitude of you don’t give a f–k. Just go play football. Go have fun with your brothers.”

Sexy Dexy was asked if he had a message for Giants fans.

“If you want to feel good, if you want to feel sexy like Dexy, try to wear it,” he said, and laughed.

I had one last question for Sexy Dexy: Were you born Sexy?

“I was born sexy,” he said, and laughed.
