LeBron James is laughing about his apparent feud with “Squid Game” creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.
After the Lakers star said he “didn’t like the ending” of the hit Netflix show’s finale, Dong-hyuk had a sly response ready for James.
“That’s my ending,” the South Korean film director declared. “If he has his own that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out and maybe send him a message saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending.'”
James learned about Dong-hyuk’s response and tweeted, “This can’t be real right??!! I hope not,” with a bunch of crying-laughing emojis.
James seemingly did not intend for his opinion about “Squid Game” to take off, but cameras caught him chatting with teammate Anthony Davis about it after a recent press conference.
Warning: Spoilers ahead
“Yeah, I did finish it,” James told Davis while crossing paths near the Lakers’ press conference area.
“You finish it? You watched it? You done? Yeah, I didn’t like the ending though. I know they start it off with a Season 2, but, like, get on the f–king flight and go see your daughter, bro. Like, what are you doing?”
James was referring to the show’s main character not returning to his daughter after winning the deadly contest.
Dong-hyuk came up with the idea for Netflix’s “Squid Game” sometime in 2008, but the then-proposed show failed to get picked up.
In 2019, Netflix took a chance on “Squid Game” and now it’s an obsession for streamers.
