Jenny Taft is expecting a baby.
Reporting from the sidelines of the Big Ten championship game between Iowa and Michigan on Fox Saturday, Jenny Taft, who is also the host of “Undisputed” on FS1, was asked to show her baby bump by play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson.
“The All-American girl, folks, is having a baby girl,” Johnson said. “Do the Cardi B, let her see GiGi!”
On “Undpisputed” Monday, Taft was congratulated by Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless, and presented pairs of Jordan sneakers for her little girl.
Taft, 34, is married to Matt Gilroy, who played five years in the NHL including two different stints with the New York Rangers.
“One of the guys I work with thought I married a Russian guy,” Taft told USA Today in 2017, when Gilroy was playing for a KHL team in Moscow. “There was confusion about it.”
The couple married in 2015. Taft said in the story that she had traveled to Russia a number of times to see him, estimating that she had seen about 30 of his KHL games.
“He really enjoys this,” Taft said. “It’s so cool that he plays a group of guys who don’t speak the same language. But hockey is a game they all understand. I think that is so fascinating. Hopefully, he will have so many stories to tell our kids someday.”
Gilroy, whose last hockey season was in 2018-19 in Switzerland’s National League, told USA Today in 2017 that the distance was “difficult,” but that they found ways to cope.
“It is difficult, but we make it work,” Gilroy said. “It’s great to be able to explore the world with your wife and see different people and cultures. We try things you don’t usually get a chance to do.”
