Cops probing 2017 Delphi murders are looking for person behind fake account
Police investigating the mysterious 2017 murders of two teenage girls in Indiana are looking for a person who created fake social media accounts and posed as a male model to contact underage girls.
The case involving Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, has remained unsolved ever since their bodies were found on a local hiking trail in Delphi almost five years ago.
Amid the ongoing investigation, Indiana State Police revealed on Monday they had discovered a fake Snapchat and Instagram account under the name “anthony_shots” that was in action around the time the girls were killed.
The fake profile used photos of a male model that portrayed himself “as being extremely wealthy and owning numerous sports cars” to communicate with underage girls between 2016 to 2017, according to police.
“The creator of the fictitious profile used this information while communicating with juvenile females to solicit nude images, obtain their addresses, and attempt to meet them,” cops said.
Investigators said the man pictured on the fake profile was not a person of interest in the case and they were trying to find the person who created the “anthony_shots” account.
They called on anyone who may have interacted with the account to come forward.
Cops believe Abby and Libby were abducted by their killer after they set off on the local hiking trail near their homes on Feb. 13, 2017.
Their bodies were discovered the next day in woods not far from the trail.
The eighth graders had documented some of their walk on Snapchat.
Throughout the investigation, cops released a grainy footage taken from Libby’s phone that captured a man walking on a bridge near where the girls were last seen.
No arrests have ever been made in relation to their murders and details of how the girls died hasn’t ever been released to the public.
