Pete Alonso and wife Haley aren’t the only ones enjoying the MLB offseason in Italy.
On Tuesday, Kate Upton posted a cozy photo with husband Justin Verlander on Instagram from their European getaway with daughter Genevieve, 3.
“We loved visiting Italy! It felt so fun to travel again. We visited so many amazing sites and learned so much about Florence and Rome history,” Upton, 29, captioned the post.
Verlander, 38, also shared a few family photos from the trip on his Instagram page, including a snap of the trio posing inside the Colosseum.
“Grateful for moments like this. Vivi loved the Colosseum… clearly she couldn’t be bothered to take a pic,” he quipped Sunday.
Italy holds a special place in Verlander’s and Upton’s hearts as the couple wed in Tuscany in November 2017. The nuptials took place after Verlander and the Astros won the World Series.
As for what’s next for Verlander, it’s not exactly crystal clear.
In November, it was widely believed that Verlander would be returning to the Astros on a deal that would reportedly pay the two-time Cy Young Award winner $50 million over two years with an opt-out following the first year.
But, as noted by MLB Network insider Jon Heyman last week, the Verlander-Astros renewal was never formally announced by Houston before the MLB lockout was instituted last week.
Heyman tweeted that Verlander’s deal is “presumably not official,” adding at the time, “that means Verlander and Astros have to wait to finalize until a new CBA is done. It is unclear why the deal reported 2 weeks ago is now in limbo.”
Verlander, who is also an eight-time All-Star, missed most of the past two seasons due to Tommy John surgery.
