Jeff Hardy’s wife, Beth, has reacted to the news that he was released by WWE.
“Jeff is good,” she tweeted. “We are good. Post that you ‘heard’ that. Thanks.” She added a peace emoji. Jeff retweeted his wife’s tweet.
The Post reported that Hardy was released after the company offered to send him to rehab, and he declined. His wife’s emphasized use of the word “heard” is an apparent reference to a report from Fightful, which conveyed the same information but used that specific wording.
Hardy, who has previously documented battles with addiction, was sent home from WWE’s tour after he left the main event of a match early and walked out through the crowd at an untelevised show in Texas this past weekend.
A number of Hardy’s colleagues in the wrestling business have posted their support.
“Jeff Hardy is so beloved by his fans and his peers,” current WWE champion Big E tweeted. “I’ve never heard a negative word about him & he’s always treated me with such kindness. Just wishing him and his family the very best.”
Fellow WWE star Damian Priest tweeted: “I think the world of @JEFFHARDYBRAND. Nothing but positive thoughts and we’ll [sic] wishes to this good a kind soul.”
“Jeff Hardy along with Matt as the Hardy Boyz, helped mold my love for professional wrestling,” tweeted the wrestler Cedric Alexander. “I was able to share a ring with Jeff on multiple occasions and enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you for just being Jeff Hardy.”
