A New York City Department of Correction officer turned himself in to police Thursday after pulling a gun at a concert at Irving Plaza last week, according to police sources.
Polidor Mackson, 30, was attending a concert for R&B singer Giveon at the venue on Dec. 2 when he got into a fight with his girlfriend and pulled out his gun around 10:30 p.m., police sources told The Post.
The correction officer started yelling “I’m on the job” — a law enforcement phrase that means they are active duty law enforcement — when security stepped in, according to sources.
The guard told cops Mackson had cuffs on him but no shield.
The jailer then told security he was going to grab his pistol, walked to his car and returned with the firearm that he drew on the guards before he jumped into a silver Mercedes, decked out with tinted windows and loud exhaust, and took off east on14th Street.
He turned himself in at the 13th precinct in Midtown at 8:20 a.m. on Thursday morning, according to police sources.
Mackson appeared before a judge Thursday night with a union representative. He was cut free without bail and given a future court date.
He’s charged with menacing with a weapon in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree.
Sources said Mackson was allowed to sit outside of a cell, uncuffed before he was escorted to his arraignment by a union delegate.
According to DOC payroll records, Mackson earned $62,000 this year from the department, where he has been employed since 2017.
It was unclear why the NYPD didn’t announce the arrest as it has historically when a city employee is taken into custody.
