Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal gives Communism a boost

Proving what a dolt he truly is, Connecticut’s Sen. Richard Blumenthal last weekend did his best to boost the Communist Party.

Blumenthal said he was “excited and honored” to speak at the awards ceremony for the Connecticut People’s World Committee, an open Communist Party affiliate. Indeed, the event celebrated the 102nd anniversary of the Communist Party USA as it explicitly aimed to recruit new CPUSA members.

Join the party, emcee Ben McManus urged, “in this epic time as we make good trouble to uproot systemic racism, retool the war economy, tax the rich, address climate change, secure voting rights and create a new socialist system that puts people, peace and planet before profits.”

Blumenthal plainly doesn’t see that as different from his own agenda: His speech centered on “holding corporations accountable for the basic treatment of the American people.”

Plainly ignorant of the CPUSA’s long history of playing garden-variety leftists as patsies, he blithely presented certificates of special recognition to the night’s three “Amistad Award” winners, insisting they “honor the great tradition of activism and standing up for individual workers.”

Blumenthal, ironically, is one of the wealthiest US senators, with an estimated worth of $100 million. In fact, his wealth is so vast he sometimes isn’t aware of all of his investments, including a real-estate development company linked to the Chinese government, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Communists, unite!
