The Issue: Councilman Ruben Diaz Sr.’s column on the dangers of bail reform after his son was attacked.
Unfortunately, it seemingly took an incident involving a family member for one of our esteemed elected officials to point out the shortsighted, inane and stupid bail-reform policy instituted by our illustrious Legislature (“Forsaken by Dems,” Dec. 17).
Shame on these lawmakers for their ineffective governance and the ongoing decay of a once great city. Council Member Ruben Diaz Sr. should be commended for speaking out.

Guess things will change since his son Samuel Diaz was attacked and almost killed last year. When it’s your family member, it becomes a priority to reform the ridiculous bail-reform laws.
The idiots running the city and state passed these stupid laws to appease the left, never once considering the outcome for the innocent people who have to live with the criminal behavior.
Hopefully Diaz’s son will make a full recovery.
Lawmakers must be more aware of the problem and start reforming all the ultra-liberal laws that have wreaked havoc on New York City and those who live, work and visit there.
Please remove your heads from their present location and make New York City a fabulous place once more.

Diaz voiced his sincere concerns about the safety of New Yorkers, but his final warning to his fellow Democrats in this upcoming election year was much more dire.
He warned that if they don’t correct this situation now, Democrats will face the apocalypse — their constituents may vote Republican.
And to that I say: “Hallelujah.” Can I get an amen?

I have two questions: Who gave alleged killer Alex Duboucet a city job at New York City Housing Authority? And how many other career criminals are also collecting city paychecks?

Kudos to Councilman Diaz for standing up to the powers that be.
His warnings truly hit the mark. The citizens of New York City have been saying this for years.
Let’s hope Mayor-elect Eric Adams and his newly appointed police commissioner, Keechant Sewell, stand behind upstanding men like Diaz to restore the city to what it once was.

The Issue: News that this year’s remaining Rockettes shows will be canceled due to a spike in COVID cases.
Not having the famous Rockettes perform at Christmas is extremely disappointing (“It’s no cancan do this season,” Dec. 18).
They are an institution in New York City. People come from all over to see them perform. However, with the surge of the Omicron variant, it’s best that the Rockettes put off their Christmas show.
Our out-of-touch mayor is telling people to remain calm. No one wants to see another lockdown, but it might be the best thing to do to protect each and every life.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is canceled for the season, and that means no Rockettes.
This I found very sad. I saw my first show there when my mother passed away when I was 14.
At 72, I’d had expected to attend another. Now my wife and myself will have to wait until next year.
I only hope and pray more people will get smart and mask up and get vaccinated so we can finally win the battle against the COVID pandemic.
