Ex-McDonald’s worker trades minimum wage for $10K-a-month TikTok fame

McDonald’s probably isn’t loving it — but one “food influencer” claims slinging shade at her former employer on TikTok is helping her rake in up to $10,000 a month.

A young woman who quit her $12-an-hour job at the golden arches to become a TikTok star has no regrets about walking away from the fast-food franchise, saying she was tired of working “three people’s jobs” for a one-person salary.

Maddison Peel, 22, says she spent close to seven years working at a McDonald’s restaurant in Kentucky, pulling eight-hour shifts and sometimes taking home less than $100 in her check.

In her spare time, the enterprising brunette began whipping up mouth-watering meals and decided to create a TikTok account to share her cooking content.

In February, a video of Peel roasting a chicken unexpectedly went viral — prompting her to quit her steady job at McDonald’s.

“I know that’s probably not responsible,” Peel told Insider of her impulse decision, which took place just days after the video went viral. “But I saw a promising future with TikTok and had a lot of brands reaching out already from that video.”

Peel has no regrets about the move, and claims she now makes more money via the social media app than she ever could behind the fryer at McDonald’s.

The rising social media star says her food-related content now allows her to bank as much as $10K per month, all thanks to inking lucrative sponsored content deals with Kroger, Walmart, Weber Grills, and Heinz.

The Post has reached out to McDonald’s for comment about their former employee’s newfound success as a digital content creator.

Peel now boasts more than 364,000 on TikTok, where she posts cooking content and makes up to $10,000 a month.

“Now I’m able to get my own house and I can pay for stuff on my own and not have to worry anymore,” Peel proclaimed, appearing to take a swipe at her old employer.

However, she’s been far more subtle than another former McDonald’s employee in Kentucky, who infamously rage-quit by posting a sign at a drive-thru back in June.

Peel does not have classic culinary training, but says it hasn’t prevented her from being taken seriously online. She now boasts more than 364,000 followers on her TikTok account @maddisonskitchen.

The brunette is just the latest youngster to quit a low-paid service job to TikTok on a full-time basis. The Post previously reported on how youngsters are raking in exorbitant amounts of money on the app.

Meanwhile, Peel is encouraging anyone with a passion to follow in her footsteps.

“Anything you’re passionate about, you can create content on,” she declared. “People can see it and then it can become a business, even overnight.”
