Brittany Matthews is sticking it to Chiefs critics.
After Kansas City clinched the AFC West title for the sixth consecutive year on Sunday, Matthews, who’s engaged to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tweeted a message to those who questioned the team.
“Playoffs here they come,” Matthews began. “& if you doubted that, please watch the film & to all a goodnight.”
Even without one of his favorite targets, tight end Travis Kelce, Mahomes threw three touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 36-10 romp over the Steelers. Kansas City also extended its win streak to eight straight.
“In this league, you’re not going to have every one of your guys every single week — so guys have to step up,” Mahomes told reporters after the game. “That’s why we’ve built the receiving room, the tight end room, the running back room the way we’ve built it… I’m just going to go through the reads, find the open guy — and we have a lot of good players on this team that are going to make plays happen.”
The Chiefs will visit the Bengals next week, followed by their regular-season finale against the Broncos in Denver.
Matthews, who, along with Mahomes, recently enjoyed daughter Sterling’s first Christmas, has continued to support Kansas City amid a season that included shaky play from the quarterback.
Last month, Matthews fired back at ESPN analyst Ryan Clark, who previously stated that Mahomes “is broken.” Mahomes and the Chiefs put up a statement win against the Raiders in Week 10, in which the quarterback threw five touchdowns.
“Saying Patrick is broken is ignorant. Saying the chiefs offense is boring is comical,” Matthews tweeted at the time.
With the playoffs around the corner, it seems Matthews is ready to put any additional Chiefs doubters on notice.
