Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt writes touching message to fans after loss

Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, reflected Monday in a touching Instagram post, hours after Kansas City fell to Cincinnati in the AFC Championship game.

Hunt, who represented Kansas in Miss USA this past November and placed in the Top 16, said that despite a disappointing finish to the season, “the future is always full of hope and expectation.”

“‘Cry on the inside like a winner’ has been one of the family mottos my entire life. It’s definitely okay to feel frustration and disappointment when things don’t go the way you anticipate—AND to cry. From relationships to competitions, to dreams, to sports, and so much more. This is the nature of life,” Hunt said.

“In this last year, we’ve ‘lost’ at some of the most important goals we held including Super Bowl LV, Miss USA, and now the AFC Championship. And as a really competitive individual in a really competitive family who hates losing—that’s challenging when you know what you’re capable of, how difficult it is to reach that pinnacle, and how close you came,” she continued.

Despite the heartache from Sunday’s 27-24 overtime loss, Hunt noted “there is always so much to be thankful for.”

“The journey, the growth, the memories, the people,” she said. “And what a blessing to reach an opportunity where you anticipate and expect greatnesses. Our 2021 season is over, but the future is always full of hope and expectation.”

Hunt went on to thank every member of Chiefs Kingdom for “pouring your heart, soul, and prayers into this team.”

“Remember that God is good win or lose—and go out into the world with a mentality to Be Kind and Be Great,” she concluded.

Prior to kickoff, Hunt expressed gratitude for every member of the Chiefs organization, noting how head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach taught her what it meant to have a “championship mentality” as she readied for Miss USA.

“This team is resilient and each person in this organization has worked tirelessly to raise the level, always striving to bring their best,” she said Sunday.

The Chiefs finished the regular season at 12-5 and claimed their sixth straight AFC West title. The Bengals, meanwhile, will now face the Rams in Super Bowl 2022.
