Florida man named ‘Psych’ bit victim in the face during machete attack, cops say

A Florida man who goes by the nickname “Psych” was arrested for attempted murder after he attacked a man with a machete before biting him in the face.

Demetrick “Psych” Sanders, 45, approached a man who was waiting for a ride to work and asked him for money outside of the Northside Supermarket in the West Little River neighborhood of Miami-Dade County around 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 22.

When the man refused to hand over cash, Sanders started to hit him with a broomstick, according to police documents obtained by Local 10 News. When he began to defend himself, Sanders pulled a machete from his waistband and continued his attack.

The victim, who identified himself as “Donald” to the outlet, received a “large laceration” on the top of his head and in his rib cage area as well as several “abrasions” across his body, police wrote in the report. After hitting the victim multiple times, he reportedly bit him in the face.

Police said he walked to a nearby gas station in the Gladeview neighborhood, to ask for help. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. He received several staples in the top of his head, he showed Local 10.

He was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday.
