Odell Beckham Jr.’s life may change in a variety of ways this Super Bowl 2022 week.
The Rams receiver, who will compete in his first ever Super Bowl later this week, told the media on Monday that he’s keeping his phone close as girlfriend Lauren Wood readies to give birth to the couple’s first child.
“My phone is right here just in case, I’m on call,” Beckham said, noting he hopes the birth happens sooner rather than later.
“I don’t need you to put the energy in the air about the Saturday night or the Sunday thing because, I think God’s got a different plan, I don’t need it during the Super Bowl. I want to be able to see my child being born, so I’m on watch, I’m on standby, God willing it’ll be tonight or tomorrow, or Wednesday.”
Beckham, 29, and Wood revealed they were expecting in November, the same month the three-time Pro Bowler signed with the Rams after his release from the Browns.
The couple has been romantically linked since 2019, with Wood making their relationship Instagram official in November of that year.
Last month, Beckham and Wood celebrated their baby-to-be with a lavish shower.
“Celebrating our child’s big debut coming 🔜 with our loved ones 😍😆🥳 baby Beckham u r so loved,” Wood captioned her Instagram post at the time, to which Beckham replied, “TOOOO MYCH LOVE!!! I can’t waittt to MEEET ….You.”

Before joining the Rams, Beckham spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Giants before being traded to the Browns in March 2019. The wideout briefly touched upon his time in New York on Monday when asked by Giants great turned NFL UK reporter, Osi Umenyiora.
“First, I didn’t leave, I got booted,” Beckham quipped. “Second, it is a great feeling to be here at this moment.”
Beckham hopes to get his first Super Bowl ring on Sunday, when the Rams take on the Bengals in Los Angeles.
