I’m a Starbucks barista: This is how you save money, get free refills

This hack will help you get more bang for your Starbuck!

In February, Starbucks announced that it would be raising prices for the third time in five months due to inflation.

As prices have taken another hike, Starbucks baristas are sharing their tips and tricks on how to order more efficiently at the popular coffee shop.

Barista Melika Ahmadian posted a TikTok advising Starbucks lovers to order a trenta cup with no ice and a venta cup with ice. She then poured half of the trenta into the venta to make two drinks out of one order.

Trenta cups hold 31 ounces but are only sold at select Starbucks locations. Ahmadian’s video went viral with 1.4 million views and commenters noting how they have begun ordering their drinks without ice to get more of their favorite drinks.

Starbucks employee Christine Kominek also exposes a few hacks to make sure you get the most out of your orders.

She shared that Starbucks cardholders are allowed free refills of hot or iced drip coffee but explained how to turn a refill into a tasty creation.

“You can start with a pumpkin spiced latte and go back and get a free refill of hot coffee, with extra steamed milk, and pumpkin spice syrup, and you’ll get another drink,” she advised.

Kominek also gives away the money-saving secret to getting more caffeine into a Frappuccino without breaking the bank. She tells her viewers to skip ordering an extra shot and ask for an “extra Frappuccino roast” instead.

“Every barista will know what it is. In the Frappuccinos we don’t use espresso at all, we use a mixture that comes out of a pump, and it’s about one shot for two pumps,” Kominek revealed.

“So let’s say you usually get a venti Frappuccino, that’s gonna have four pumps usually. If you wanna get an extra shot say ‘hey can I get a Frappucino with six pumps Frapp roast,'” the barista said.

She noted that customers can order an unlimited amount of extra pumps for only 60 cents.

Another Starbucks worker named Alexandrea Paige shared her savvy order on TikTok.

“I normally order a dark roast and I always order a grande size but in a venti cup,” she explained in her video. “To utilize this trick to its full potential, I always order cream on top and they fill it to the top.”

A popular way to reduce the price tag of your Starbucks order is to customize your drink instead of choosing off the menu. TikTok is filled with specific hacks and orders to get your daily dose of caffeine and sugar at a reduced price.
