Russian ‘champion looter’ reportedly sent 1K pounds of goods home
A Russian soldier dubbed the “champion looter” of Ukraine swiped almost 1,000 pounds of ill-gotten goods to send back to his home country, a report said Tuesday.
Yevgeny Kovalenko, 27, sent 970 pounds of loot, including speakers, tools, a table and a tent, to his hometown of Rubtsovsk in the Altai region of Siberia amid the invasion of Ukraine, East2West News reported.
He was among a group of 16 “marauder” soldiers who reportedly helped themselves to people’s belongings and store merchandise in various occupied communities.
Russian opposition media outlet Dossier Center recently pictured him at the CDEK delivery center in Belarus sending the booty back to his hometown, according to East2West.
The goods were addressed to his 24-year-old wife, Margarita, a graduate of the Altai State University of Culture, the report said.
“More than two dozen soldiers pass through the office during the broadcast. Chevrons of Russian troops on their uniforms are seen.” Dossier Center reported.
“The Russian soldiers had just returned to Belarus. It is unlikely that they had time to legally buy these tons of goods,” it added. “The record for the number and weight of parcels is held by Yevgeny Kovalenko, 27….he tried to send home 17 parcels with a total weight of 440k (970 pounds).”
The alleged plunderer is a recon platoon commander who graduated from the Novosibirsk Military Institute of the National Guard, East2West reported.
He serves in unit 6720 of the 656th Regiment of Operational Designation of the Russian Federal Guard Service.
Other alleged Russian war thieves include Artem Lazarev, who sent home 562 pounds in loot; Pavel Nikolaev, who made off with 451 pounds; and Andrei Serdtsev and Georgy Valiev, both of whom were good for 330 pounds, The Hill reported.
