Cops save NY man from car before it bursts into flames, body cam shows
Dramatic body cam video captured police officers in upstate New York pulling a man out of his vehicle seconds before it burst into flames.
The cops in the town of Tonawanda near Buffalo responded last week to a report of a car that had hit a pole and ended up on Sparky Adams Field, WKBW reported.
Officer Sarah Heft is seen striking the passenger-side window with her collapsible baton as she tells the driver to open the door.
She didn’t get a reaction but her partner, Alyxander Pasquale, finally gets the driver to open the door and pulls him clear of the vehicle, which was on fire inside.
Officer Jacob McCormick also arrived and helped in the rescue.
Thick smoke billows out of the vehicle moments before it erupts in flames.
The driver, identified as 46-year-old Saverio M. Depinto, was charged with reckless endangerment, driving while ability impaired by drugs, reckless driving and other vehicle and traffic violations.
Witnesses told police they saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and hitting a stop sign at Parker Boulevard before running through a fence and ending up on the field.
