A teen is clinging to life after she was found shot in the head inside a Brooklyn building early Wednesday, police said.
A resident found the 18-year-old victim gravely wounded in the lobby of a building on Sterling Place near Rochester Avenue in Crown Heights around 2:45 a.m., cops said.
The teenager was rushed to the Kings County Hospital Center, where she was listed in critical condition hours later, police said.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting were not immediately known.
Police sources said the victim, who lives in Far Rockaway, had been hanging out with friends both inside and outside the building since about 8 p.m.Â
“I don’t understand,” neighborhood resident Trevor Handberry told NBC News. “This is sad. This is very sad.”
Handberry said he was surprised at the outburst of violence because police patrol the area regularly.
“Every day,” he said. “So, this is why I don’t understand how this could go down if they are there all the time.”
