Watch as Florida good Samaritans rush to help unconscious driver drifting through traffic
A pulse-pounding video shows a group of Florida good Samaritans rushing into traffic to help an unconscious driver whose car was drifting dangerously across lanes.
Boynton Beach police released footage of the May 5 incident showing a black sedan gliding through a busy intersection with cars flying past in all directions.
According to police, the unidentified driver suffered a medical episode while waiting at a red light.
A co-worker, who was driving her car two lanes over, saw her colleague slumped over her steering wheel.
The stricken woman’s car then began to roll across lanes of traffic with cars whizzing around her.
Her colleague can be seen jumping out of her car and frantically running after the runaway vehicle while screaming for help.
At least seven other strangers, both men and women, quickly converged on the car and slowly brought it to a halt by putting their weight against it.
“It really restores your faith in humanity,” Boynton Beach police spokesperson Stephanie Slater told The Post. “We wanted to get this video out there and do something to honor these people.”
With the woman still inside the locked car, one woman can be seen retrieving an item and handing it to another man who used it to smash a window, enter the vehicle and set the parking brake.
Police said they guided the vehicle to a nearby convenience store and called 911.
The driver has recovered and police are hailing the good Samaritans for rushing to help their fellow Floridian.
The department has managed to identify most of the saviors and plans to publicly honor them Friday.
It also plans to reunite them with the driver, whose medical condition wasn’t disclosed.
