BALTIMORE — Chad Green left Thursday’s 9-6 loss to the Orioles with right forearm discomfort and will be examined further on Friday in The Bronx.
It happened in a rough sixth inning, as Green said his elbow didn’t feel right on a couple of pitches, as well as a pickoff throw to first. That prompted him to alert the training staff and leave the game while facing Austin Hays with two outs in the inning.
“I’m concerned to a certain extent,’’ Green said. “Any time you’re dealing with an arm injury, you’re not really sure what can happen.”
He called the discomfort a “gradual, uneasy feeling.”
“Any time you’re out there trying to compete in a high-leverage situation and not focused on executing pitches and worried about other stuff, you probably shouldn’t be out there,’’ said Green, who added he didn’t feel anything in the area until Thursday.
If the Yankees need to make a move, Ron Marinaccio is a possibility to be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
After getting off to a rough start to the season, Green had allowed just two hits, a pair of walks and a run in his previous six outings, while striking out 10.
On Thursday, the right-hander had already allowed a go-ahead single by pinch-hitter Rougned Odor and a game-tying sacrifice fly to Cedric Mullins.
Green came in with the bases loaded and no one out thanks to a rough outing by Miguel Castro.
Jonathan Loaisiga finally finished the inning.
