A California man has been arrested for allegedly groping two women — one of whom was carrying a baby — on a cross-country redeye flight on Wednesday, officials said.
During the overnight flight from Los Angeles to Boston, Jairaj Singh Dhillon, 42, of Modesto, allegedly first inappropriately touched a woman sitting in the aisle seat next to him, according to charging documents.
He’s accused of grabbing the woman’s thigh and groin area as she cared for her infant child who was in a car seat in the window seat next to her.
The woman yelled out “this man just groped me,” and asked for help, federal prosecutors said.
The second victim, who was seated across the aisle from Dhillon, claimed he reached out with both his hands and grabbed her groin and buttocks when she was standing in the aisle.
The flight crew responded and moved Dhillon to a different part of the plane for the remainder of the flight, according to court docs.
When the plane landed in Boston on Wednesday morning he was arrested and charged with two counts of abusive sexual contact while in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.
Each charge Dhillon faces carries up to three years in prison, along with a fine of up to $250,000.
He is expected to appear in federal court for a detention hearing on Thursday.
