Roughly four weeks out from training camp, the Rangers’ personnel pool is all but set with little salary-cap space remaining to make additions.
It is yet to be determined whether the club improved this offseason. What is certain is the Rangers’ lineup will look different than it did during their run to the conference final.
Ryan Strome, a longtime member of the leadership core, will be in a different uniform for the first time in four seasons. Many of last season’s trade-deadline additions also will be elsewhere. Andrew Copp joined his hometown Red Wings, Justin Braun went back to Philadelphia and Frank Vatrano earned a well-deserved raise to join the Ducks. Tyler Motte is still a free agent, but the feisty winger probably won’t be a Blueshirt for financial reasons.
At the core, however, a majority of the team is returning.
