Video shows migrants attacking, taunting Border Patrol agents

US Border Patrol agents were allegedly attacked by two migrants who swam around a Pacific Ocean barrier — with an alarming video showing one man taunting and lunging at one of the agents before getting busted.

The caught-on-camera incident took place near Imperial Beach in California, where the migrants illegally entered the US by “swimming around the International Boundary Maritime primary fencing,” a Customs and Border Protection spokesperson said Wednesday.

The video clip shows one of the migrants being held face down in the sand by an agent.

The other migrant was recorded shouting and lunging at another agent who swung a baton at the man until another agent tackled the migrant from behind.

Throughout the recording, loud shouting can be heard, apparently coming from other migrants on the other side of the barrier in Tijuana, Mexico.

The video was posted on Instagram by US Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas), who said it was shot by a TikTok user, according to the Washington Examiner.

Flores called the incident “just a small example of what our brave men and women of [Customs and Border Protection] deal with on a daily basis” and blamed it on President Biden.

“Left without any support by this administration and thanks to their open border policies, disrespect and misconduct toward our law enforcement officials have reached alarming levels,” she added.

A CBP spokesperson told The Post on Wednesday that the incident took place at around 5:10 p.m. on Sunday when migrants entered the US by “swimming around the International Boundary Maritime primary fencing.”

“As agents attempted to take both migrants into custody, the migrants actively resisted and assaulted the agents,” the spokesperson said.

“During the confrontation, the agents deployed less-lethal devices.”

Both migrants are Mexican nationals, one 17 and the other 20, who were taken into custody, the spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for the FBI’s San Diego Field Office said it was “aware of the situation” and was “investigating the assault on federal officers.”

“We will review all available facts of the incident to determine what federal response is warranted,” the spokesperson said.

“As this is an ongoing matter, we have no further comment.”

US Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) said, “Encounters like this will only continue to happen until we secure the border, target and destroy cartels, and actually stand up for the rule of law.”

“Until Republicans decide to dig in and use the power of the purse to take on this administration, this is only going to get worse,” he added.

Sunday’s incident occurred one day before two migrant children, ages 3 and 5, drowned while trying to cross the Rio Grande and a third —  a 2-month-old baby boy– was left fighting for his life after being pulled from the river in Texas.

The victims were part of separate groups of migrants who were attempting to illegally enter the US from Mexico.

The number of migrants stopped at or near the southern border reached a record 239,416 in May, and the total for fiscal 2022 is on pace to top 2 million for the first time when the fiscal year ends Sept. 30.

Meanwhile, migrant deaths reached an all-time high of 609 during the first nine months of fiscal 2022, the Examiner reported last month, citing internal data compiled by the CBP.

Drowning is the second-leading cause of death for migrants crossing the US-Mexico border, according to the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration.
