Long battling same sex couple spar over Sag Harbor property

A disgraced lawyer who battled her lesbian partner for custody of their daughter in a landmark New York legal case allegedly sold off a Hamptons property the pair had kept in trust for the child, according to a lawsuit.

Allison Scollar sold 87 Harrison St. in Sag Harbor for $855,000, but refuses to account for the cash and told their daughter she’d get the money when Scollar dies, claimed ex Brook Altman in a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.

Altman gave birth to the girl in October 2006, having conceived with sperm from a friend of Scollar’s.

The pair’s relationship later deteriorated and a judge found Scollar to be the more responsible parent, awarding her custody. The case was significant because Scollar had no biological tie to the child.

In 2013, Scollar accused an NYPD sergeant of harassment in regard to the custody case. By 2015, Scollar was disbarred for stealing $2 million from client escrow accounts.

The now 15-year-old daughter lives with Altman, an Emmy Award-winning television producer who helped launch Martha Stewart’s TV show, according to court papers.

Scollar, who called Altman “an insane litigant,” claimed most of her ex’s legal attacks against her have failed and that the latest lawsuit was rife with lies.

The Sag Harbor home had become uninhabitable after being struck by a tree in 2019, and the proceeds of the sale were put in a tax-friendly 1031 exchange, Scollar added.

Scollar said she remains the child’s legal guardian and that “legally she resides with me. Her school registration, taxes and passport are all registered with me.”

“This is in the past and my life is fully turned around,” Scollar noted of her disbarment.
