One teenager was killed and another injured after a classmate opened fire at an Oklahoma high school homecoming football game Friday night, police said.
The violence broke out at McLain High School in Tulsa during the varsity football game against Miami, according to cops and the school’s website.
When police arrived around 10 p.m., they found a 17-year-old boy dead from gunshot wounds on the school tennis court, Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg told Fox News 23.
A second 17-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but has since improved and is now stable.
The school had been celebrating the end of its homecoming week when the chaos unfolded, according to the school site.
The shooting suspect, who police believe is 17-years-old, fled the scene and was still on the loose early Saturday.
Tulsa Police Department Chief of Police Wendell Franklin warned Tulsa residents to stay clear of the high school and its surrounding area as police investigate and tend to “potentially multiple” victims.
“We hope that of the hundreds of people here, some will come forward and help with this investigation,” police pleaded.
The homicide is the 60th of the year and second of the day for Tulsa.
Early Friday morning, Camreion Williams allegedly shot his stepfather and led police on a nearly 9-hour chase.
He was eventually arrested after he was caught hiding inside a business center maintenance room.
