Vikings rookie safety Lewis Cine was carted off and taken to a local hospital in London on Sunday after suffering a scary leg injury against the Saints.
Cine, taken No. 32 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, suffered a fractured leg while blocking on a punt return late in the first quarter, with his left leg appearing to bend awkwardly. Cine clutched his leg after getting injured, and the leg was put in an air cast. Cine was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game.
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters that Cine will remain in London to have surgery, and members of the team’s medical staff will remain with him until he can return home.
Cine, 22, was selected out of Georgia in April and has primarily been a special teams player for the Vikings early in his first season. He was a first-team All-SEC selection last season.
The Vikings and Saints are playing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Minnesota took a 13-7 lead into halftime.
