Dad thought he was a hero for trapping ‘creature’ — until he found out what it was
This guy just found himself an itsy bitsy little bit of embarrassment.
A British man has become a new TikTok sensation after he rushed to capture a fuzzy “arachnid-type” creature in his daughter’s bathroom — only to discover that it was actually just a pair of her false eyelashes.
Pete Robinson’s attempt to become Spider-Dad — which has led to 1.7 million views on the social media platform — began when he stopped by his daughter’s house in East England to help with some home repairs.
The 69-year-old stepped into the bathroom to inspect a leak when he noticed a “multi-legged arachnid-type creature” lurking on the windowsill, right where he would be crouching down.
“The job I had to do was at floor-level and there was no way I was going to have this thing leaping on me from a height,” he told SWNS.
“I thought the best thing to do was to take charge of the situation by securing this beast under a glass, as you do.”
Once the “beast” was contained, Pete returned to his tasks and happily awaited his daughter’s return.
When Jen Robinson, 36, arrived home, she was excited to see her dad’s handy skills at work fixing her home. She went into the bathroom to see his updates when she saw her dad’s hilarious mistake.
“I saw this glass on this window ledge and said ‘what on earth is that Dad?'” Jen recounted.
“He said ‘I don’t know, some sort of creature I’ve caught.’ When I looked closer it was my eyelashes.”
The innocent mistake had Jen cracking up in tearful hysterics and teasing her father about needing new glasses.
“I just had tears, I was crying. It made my day that did,” she said.
“Somewhat embarrassed, I carried on with my work and made little of it but to answer what you’re all thinking I do now have a brand-new pair of glasses,” he admitted.
“Being of an older generation I don’t have things like that lurking in my house, I’m very pleased to say.”
The helpful father was “horrified” to learn that Jen put the furry little “creatures” on her eyes.
Jen has yet to remove the glass containing her falsies saying that it makes her giggle every time she steps into her bathroom.
After the hilarious mistake went viral on TikTok, thousands of commenters started laughing along.
“Your dad has a great sense of humor,” Gillyb said.
“I’d have been on the floor laughing my head off,” imy013 replied.
Several viewers shared similar experiences they’ve had grateful not be the only ones who got duped.
“I can’t stop laughing. Iv done this,” Richard Fielder commented.
“I once was so drunk I left my on the toilet and when came back later that night scared myself thinking it was a creature too,” Ash shared.
“I saw one in the street the other day, and genuinely thought it was a creature,” Katie Leggott85 said.
