Giant Cheeto held by orange fingertips reaches for the sky in tiny town
It’s not easy for a place to be this cheesy.
A small town in Canada has a salty new claim to fame — as it’s now the home of a 17-foot, bright orange Cheeto statue, according to a report.
The so-called Cheetle Hand Statue, currently on temporary display along a highway in the appropriately named Cheadle — a hamlet of about 100 or so residents — features a huge rendering of the singular snack being held aloft by three fingers.
The digits are dusted in orange powder, which just happens to be officially known as “cheetle,” according to the maker of the treat, Pepsi.
The brand has been shopping around for the statue’s “perfect” home and settled on a town with a name that is a homonym of that familiar powder, Yahoo reported, citing a release from the company.
A TikTok user captured the larger-than-life sight — which will be on display along Railway Avenue until Nov. 4 — for the internet’s enjoyment.
Of course, commenters on the site had a field day.
One declared that “the finger stains finish it,” however, other users thought it looked like something else.
“They did a lot to try and make sure people didn’t think it was just a big turd,” one admitted.
“… at first I thought something else was going on,” another said.
“at first glance .. Definitely did not see a cheeto …” another similarly stated.
Canada is no stranger to housing several notable roadside attractions. There’s a giant Easter egg in Vegreville, the world’s largest dinosaur in Drumheller, a UFO landing pad in St. Paul, and a giant moose statue in Moose Jaw just to name a few.
