The Yankees have a few more days to finalize their postseason roster, but it looks like Matt Carpenter will be on it.
Aaron Boone said of the lefty-swinging Carpenter on Thursday, “I expect him to be on the roster.”
Boone’s statement on “The Michael Kay Show” came after the manager seemed to be leaning in that direction once Carpenter, who’s been out since August with a fractured left foot, started taking swings and seeing pitches at the team’s alternate site in Somerset.
If Carpenter does land on the roster for the ALDS, which begins Tuesday in The Bronx, the Yankees will have to figure out who to leave off, and Boone sounded cautious about DJ LeMahieu after Wednesday’s regular-season finale.
