Prince Andrew ‘is an idiot’ and ‘the runt of the litter,’ ex-royal press secretary says
Prince Andrew has been mocked as an “idiot” by the royal family’s former longtime press secretary — who also dismissed him as the “runt of the litter.”
Dickie Arbiter, who was Queen Elizabeth’s spokesman for 20 years, joined other experts in ridiculing the scandal-scarred royal in “Prince Andrew: Banished,” the Peacock documentary about his astonishing downfall.
“Andrew always had this holier-than-thou, I’m-greater-than-everybody-else, the-Queen-is-my-mom attitude,” Arbiter recalled of Andrew, whom he called the Queen’s favorite son.
“The problem is, the man’s an idiot,” he insisted bluntly.
Arbiter, who was also a longtime media manager for the now-King Charles III, dismissed those who blamed Andrew’s behavior on his isolated upbringing.
“There’s always one runt of the litter, and Andrew was it,” insisted Arbiter, who noted that the late Queen’s other children — Charles, Prince Edward and Princess Anne — do not share the same characteristics.
The retired press secretary said Andrew’s mother always put up with her son’s antics because he had long been her favorite child.
However, she was forced to “effectively fire” her son from royal duties after his disastrous attempt to justify palling around with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in a BBC interview, which he also used to deny knowing a woman accusing him of sexual abuse despite being photographed with her.
“That’s very difficult for any mother to do, but she saw the need to do it,” Arbiter said of the late Queen, who even stripped her son of the title His Royal Highness.
“To her, the institution of the monarchy is more important than safeguarding some of the stupid things that your children have done,” he said.
